Conformity was the gold standard for women of my generation. Art was always a problem in search of a solution that rode on the back of the real self knitting pink and blue booties, therefore, it was only when the nest emptied that I was able to throw off the chastity belt of my religion and immerse myself, for the next five years, in studying art in all it's varied manifestations and practice in an effort to find my artistic feet.
Though always an artist but never trained in the artistic priesthood in a way I was grateful for the fact that I never had to deal with the sometime belch of undigested teachings as I ploughed a heterodox furrow of my own. After exploring a variety of media I settled on egg tempera, a medium I found best suited to my autobiographical concepts. I worked thus for the longest time till finally tiring of the upkeep of this most demanding of mediums and the restrained sizes of the supports I now sought larger canvases and a way of creating work more on the lines of graffiti art; bold, colourful and large.
My work is largely autobiographical in concept but is also in the broad category of social engagement.
